Roof bar und mein deutscher Freundeskreis

Roofbar, das Stichwort. George, meine Bekanntschaft aus Jindabyne, hat mich mit dort hin geschleppt und dort habe ich so gut wie alle meine deutschen Kontakte geknuepft.

Roofbar, the keyword. George, the guy I met in Jindabyne, took me there the other day and there I met almoust all my new german friends.

Durch George habe ich Carina kennen gelernt. Die hat mich Olga, Susa, Marieke und Dana vorgestellt. Olga und ich haben schnell festgestellt, dass wir im selben Schwimmbad arbeiten und so war es leicht, mit ihr nach der Arbeit mittwochs in den Bus Richtung Art Gallery zu steigen (die war mal eine Zeit lang unser abendliches Ziel - kostenlose Kinofilme!). Susa ist schnell zu einer sehr guten Freundin hier geworden und sie hat mich wieder anderen Leuten vorgestellt (Andy, Ash, Christine - alle zum Glueck noch in Sydney - mittlerweile ist auch Christine nach Hause geflogen :o( ...). Dana ist was besonderes, sie hat uebrigens- wie ich - am 16.12. Geburtstag ;o)
Through George, I met Carina. She introduced me to Olga, Susa, Marieke and Dana. Olga and I soon found out, that we work in the same place - Lane Cove Aquatic & Leisure Centre and so it was easy, joining her on Wednesdays watching free movies at the Art Gallery. Susa became soon a good friend of mine and she introduced me to another couple of people (Andy, Christine, Ash - fortunately, these guys are still here in Sydney - by now, Christine has left too ... :o( ). Dana is special, by the way her birthday is - like mine - on the 16th of december ;o)

Here I need to announce: I MISS YOU GUYS!!!

Roofbar an sich ist auch sehr erwaehnenswert. Wie der Name sagt, befindet sich die Bar auf einem Dach, teils draussen, mitten in der Stadt, man hat einen wunderschoenen Blick auf anliegend Gebaude und die Fussgaengerzone. Ausserdem gibt es donnerstags von 5 bis 7 pm Happy Hour. Wahrscheinlich einer der Hauptgruende, warum wir uns dort jeden Donnerstag getroffen haben :o) Im Winter ist der Aufenthalt draussen weniger gemuetlich und leider sind auch viele meiner Bekannten von dort wieder Richtung Heimat abgereist. Aber im Sommer wieder :o)!!!

The Roofbar itself is also worth to talk about. Like the name, the bar is situated outside on a roof in the middle of the city with a beautiful view over adjacent buildings and the pedestrian mall. In addition, I should mention, that there is happy hour on thursdays from 5 till 7 pm.

Tja, da fast alle meine deutschen Freunde mitlerweile wieder irgendwo in "good old Germany" rumlaufen, gehe ich leider kaum noch dort hin. Schade. War aber eine schoene Zeit! :o)

Well, for almost all my german friends are meanwhile back in Germany, I hardly make it to the Roof Bar. Pity. Was a great time guys! :o)
