The Rocks

Die "Rocks", so wird die aelteste Ansiedlung von Sydney genannt. In den alten und teilweise verwinkelten Gassen findet man heute kleine Geschaefte oder Restaurants (dort gibt es uebrigens ein Loewenbraeu!), alle haben gemeinsam, dass sie sich sehr gut an die steilen Haenge, in die die Haeuser gebaut sind, angepasst haben. Kleine Treppen fuehren die Besucher durch Mini-Gaertchen (Nurses Walk, kann aber auch sein, dass ich mich einfach nur verirrt habe...) und durch Restaurants.
Die Gegend ist abends auch sehr attraktiv und an Wochenende findet ein Markt statt. Mit direkter Anbindung zur Stadt und dem Hafen (direkt neben Circular Quay), sowie Bruecke und Oper sind die Rocks bestimmt jedem Touristen ein Begriff.

"The Rocks" is the first settlement of the city of Sydney. In these old and windy streets one can find little shops and restaurants (they have Loewenbraeu there), and they all have in common, that they all are adapted to the rocky and steep landscape. Little stairways lead through the area, eg. Nurses Walk, and along the restaurants.
The rocks are also attraktive at night time. On weekends the "the rocks market" and festivals every now and then take place. With close exposition to City (CBD) and harbour (next to Circular Quay), as well as Harbour Bridge and Opera House the Rocks are sureley familiar to every tourist.
